Post-Tensioning & Structural Systems

Bonded and external tendons, stay cables, bearings, joints and anchors, installed by IBEC crews and stressed against a calculated elongation. The structural systems that stay in the bridge after the equipment leaves.

Position

Prestress is the one part of a concrete structure you cannot inspect once the grout has set. That puts the whole burden on the process — duct profile held to tolerance, strand cut and pushed clean, jack calibrated within the certificate period, elongation measured against a calculation the site engineer can read. IBEC supplies the hardware and the crew together, because splitting them is how records go missing.

Applications

  • Segmental and cast-in-situ box girders
  • Cable-stayed and extradosed bridges
  • Long-span transfer structures in buildings
  • LNG tanks, silos and containment structures
  • Dam and quay wall anchoring

01Systems

What we supply.

Each system is engineered to the job in front of it. The figures below are the working envelope, not a catalogue limit.

01

Bonded Internal Post-Tensioning

Multistrand tendons inside the concrete section, grouted after stressing, for box girders, I-girders, transfer beams and slabs.

Tendon units
4 to 37 strand
Strand
15.2 / 15.7 mm, 1,860 MPa
Duct
Corrugated steel / HDPE
Grout
Thixotropic, vacuum-assisted
02

External & Replaceable Tendons

Tendons run outside the concrete inside the box, individually inspectable, de-stressable and replaceable over the life of the structure.

Tendon units
7 to 31 strand
Sheathing
HDPE, grouted or greased
Replaceable
Yes, tendon by tendon
03

Stay Cable Systems

Parallel strand stays with individually sheathed and waxed strands, anti-vandalism pipe, and dampers tuned to the deck.

Cable size
19 to 91 strand
Fatigue
2 M cycles, 200 MPa range
Damping
Internal / external viscous
Qualification
fib Bulletin 89, PTI
04

Structural Bearings

POT-PTFE, spherical and elastomeric bearings, selected against the movement and rotation the deck will actually see, not the catalogue nearest size.

Vertical load
up to 60,000 kN
Movement
± 600 mm
Rotation
up to 0.03 rad
Standard
IRC:83, EN 1337
05

Expansion Joints

Strip seal, modular and finger joints, plus the replacement of joints on structures already in service under traffic management.

Movement
40 – 1,200 mm
Types
Strip seal / modular / finger
Standard
IRC:SP:69, EN 1317
06

Ground & Rock Anchors

Permanent and temporary anchors for retaining walls, deep excavations, dam strengthening and uplift resistance, with proof testing on every unit.

Capacity
300 – 6,000 kN
Protection
Double corrosion protection
Testing
100 % proof, 5 % investigation
07

Strengthening & Structural Repair

External post-tensioning, carbon fibre laminate, section jacketing and cathodic protection for structures that must carry more, or last longer, than they were built for.

Methods
External PT / CFRP / jacketing

What comes with it

  • Tendon layout, friction and elongation calculations issued before stressing
  • Jacks calibrated on a certified rig at six-month intervals
  • Stressing records signed on the day, per tendon, per end
  • Vacuum-assisted grouting with recorded pressures and volumes
  • Duct pressure testing before concrete is placed
  • Load rating and residual life assessment on existing structures
