Divisions involved

01

The problem

The crossing is over four electrified running lines with a four-hour traffic block available once a fortnight. Every girder had to go in complete, first time, with no possibility of adjustment under the wire.

02

What we did

All spans were trial-assembled in the works and dimensionally surveyed against the model before coating, so fit-up was proven before anything shipped. Erection used synchronised strand jacks from temporary towers outside the danger zone, with the lift sequence rehearsed dry in daylight the week before each block.

03

What happened

Fourteen consecutive blocks used, none overrun. No site rework on fit-up; measured bearing seating was within 4 mm of theoretical on every span.

Send us a span table.

Give us the general arrangement and the programme. You will get two or three viable erection methods back, each with a cycle time we are prepared to stand behind — before anyone talks about price.
